New to Brentwood? Meet New Neighbors

Club offers two opportunities to learn more about greater Nashville
When I first was transferred from The Tennessean's downtown office to its Williamson A.M. one, I was lost. Though I had lived in Brentwood for five years, my entire orientation was to the north.

One of the first people to call me at my new desk was Olivia Bergh, a fixture in everything Brentwood, from the Womans Club to the chamber. She's also one of the movers and shakers behind the New Neighbors League and she invited me to its annual fashion show. I jumped at the chance.

If you're new to Middle Tennessee you have two chances to "jump" this month and meet a wide variety of people from literally all over the world who have settled here. Next Thursday, July 16, the league will host its July Coffee Gathering for prospective members to learn more about the club, and in turn, more about Nashville and surrounding areas. It meets from 9:30 -11 a.m. Call Olivia at 377-1045 for more info and location.

On the following Thursday, July 23, the club's luncheon will be held at Brentwood Country Club, 5123 Country Club Dr. This month's speaker is Dr. Emily G. Kurtz, assistant professor of medicine at the Vanderbilt Heart Institute who specializes in women’s health.

The luncheon begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs until about 1 p.m. The $24 cost includes the meal, beverage and gratuity. A cash bar will be open.

Again, call Olivia Bergh, at 377-1045 for more information.
